Butte so South of Rise photos

John's cool dog

John and Family, my warm shower's hosts in Butte

The day started on pavement.

After climbing you can look back and see Butte!

Then we had some high altitude rolling hills

See that Mountain? That's Fleecer's Ridge. After traversing the valley, I was to climb it's north (right) side.

The descent of the pass I was on was sweet, and gave me a great view of my tasks.

I ate lunch in the valley, staring down my afternoon playmate.

You can see Butte! This means that those scenic hills in the Butte post were... these hills! (mountains)

Almost to the top!

Mt. Fleecer looks a lot closer now!

Looking forward at my destination, in the tiny town in the distance.

The decent is legendary for it's steepness. I was barely able to walk it.

The tree is straight, the ground is not.

Looking back up at it.

Wise River was a bust, not much there, so I rode 8 miles into a headwind to a national forest where I found my home for the night.
