Mid day update, White Bird to Lowell.

I'm a couple hours and 20 miles or so in to my day, but I will be leaving service areas soon so I figured I should write from Grangeville, pop around 3,000 - the biggest town I've been in in awhile.

Normally after two hours on bike I am much farther, but 13 miles of that was 5-6 mph up White Bird Hill. See the specific post about that for details.

Last night turned out to be one of the best nights of the trip. White Bird has two bars, so after dinner and blogging I headed to the less seedy looking one for beers, reading, and company. I met some great local folks, got tipsy, and decided to head for the sack after beer 3.

When I got outside though I saw it was only 7 (or 8? We are on the time zone line and it gets confusing). So I grabbed my uke to play some in the park where I was staying. Soon I was joined by Jerry and his guitar and we jammed and talked for a few hours while he bought me beers from the seedier looking bar (which happens to be owned by the mayor. Also both bars have tap drinks to go so we drank and played in the park. Small towns rule.)

I got to bed sort of late (or not?) And woke a bit late (or didn't, time zone change again), but I felt great in the morning. At some point my tooth stopped hurting last night and it hasn't hurt much yet today. It might be the gentle brushing, aggressive use of mouthwash, and me not chewing on that side; or it might be that beer cures everything. Maybe it will fix itself and I can put off the dentist until I'm back in Eugene and it's cheaper. We can hope.

The great thing is, no matter how hard the next few days are up Lolo Pass, I can say "well, at least my tooth doesn't hurt anymore." (Assuming that stays true)

And now, 40ish more miles to Lowell!
